Design & Engineering

From idea to finished part, with method.

Design means giving shape to an idea and turning it into tangible reality through a methodical, structured approach: problem analysis, research, idea generation, development, implementation and validation. A balance of creativity and rationality.

Six areas of expertise

Design & engineering

01 — Mechanics

Mechanical design

Our team turns innovative concepts into concrete, efficient solutions. We guide you from concept to practical implementation, with a deep knowledge of materials to ensure the optimal choice in terms of performance, durability and manufacturability.

02 — Structures

Structural design

Meticulous analysis and innovative design of composite and non-composite structures. Comprehensive component assessment, bespoke solutions and expert advice, using advanced software and the latest materials knowledge to ensure strength, durability and efficiency.

03 — Additive

3D printing design

We push the boundaries of additive manufacturing. Starting from the design requirements, we create geometries that fully exploit the potential of 3D printing, with a design geared towards functionality, efficiency, sustainability and high-quality output.

04 — CFD / FEM

Multiphysics verification & validation

Verification and validation for fluid-structure interactions using CFD and FEM analysis. We model flows, pressure distributions and temperature variations, and assess the structural response to loads and environmental conditions: stress, strain and load effects.

05 — Materials

Material characterisation

In-depth analysis with destructive and non-destructive methods, in line with standards and regulations. Tensile, impact, fatigue and hardness testing; ultrasonic, radiographic and magnetic-particle inspection, with dye penetrant and eddy current testing for optimisation, quality and compliance.

06 — Hydrofoil

Hydrofoil systems

Functional, structural and fluid-dynamic design of hydrofoil systems, from concept to validation: CFD simulations and hydrodynamic design software, ride and trim optimization (ride optimization), prototyping and testing to achieve exceptional lift, stability and efficiency, for boating and water sports.

How it works & hydrofoil design

The method

Nautical rigour, in every sector

From our origins in maritime safety we inherited one principle: where error is not an option, you need simulation, prototyping and iterative testing.

  • Problem analysis and requirements gathering
  • CFD/FEM simulation and optimisation
  • Prototyping and virtual and physical testing
  • Validation and industrialisation

Frequently asked questions

Design: answers in brief

What kind of CFD and FEM analysis do you carry out?
We carry out multiphysics simulations for fluid-structure interactions: CFD analysis of flows, pressures and temperatures, and FEM analysis of the structural response to loads and environmental conditions (stress, strain, load effects).
Do you design bespoke hydrofoil systems?
Yes. We combine functional, structural and fluid-dynamic design for boats, yachts and water-sports equipment, with CFD simulations, hydrodynamic optimisation, prototyping and testing through to validation.
How does a hydrofoil work?
A hydrofoil is a submerged wing that, as speed increases, generates hydrodynamic lift and raises the hull out of the water: drag drops, speed and efficiency increase and the ride becomes more stable. Its behaviour depends on the foil profile, angle of attack, area and trim, which we size using CFD simulations and hydrodynamic design software.
Do you optimise hydrofoil ride and trim (ride optimization)?
Yes. We analyse trim, flight height and stability across different speed and sea conditions and optimise foil geometry and settings (ride optimization) through CFD simulation, prototyping and on-water testing, for optimal lift, control and efficiency.
Do you also carry out material testing?
We offer material characterisation with destructive testing (tensile, impact, fatigue, hardness) and non-destructive testing (ultrasonic, radiographic, magnetic-particle, dye penetrant, eddy current), in line with standards and regulations.
Do you also handle industrialisation after the design stage?
Yes: design integrates with our consulting services for product industrialisation and production management, taking the project all the way to market.
